The influence of perioperative physiotherapy on women well-being after gynecologic surgery

Introduction. Rehabilitation is considered an integral part of the treatment process in oncology. Serving as preventive, therapeutic and palliative care. Physiotherapy is focused on the individual approach of the patient. Physiotherapy in the hospital consists of preoperative and postoperative treatment. The aim of rehabilitation after surgical treatment of female sexual organs is to prevent complications and functional disorders as a result of surgical intervention. Physiotherapist together with patient want to return to fully physical ability of the patient. The role of the therapist is not limited only to the physical care of the patient’s but therapist also support psychological patient. Aim. Subjective evaluation after physiotherapy tretment and the influence on women well-being after gynecologic surgery. Material and methods. The study was conducted in the Department of Gynaecology at the Poznan University of Medical Sciences from December 2015 to May 2016 year. It has been analysed information from questionnaires of 100 patients who visited the hospital for treatment of cancer after operating genitals. Examined engaged in the subjective assessment of the effects of post-operative physiotherapy. In every women has been collected a history of coexisting diseases that may affect the status of well-being after the treatment. Patient were asked about the past -gynaecological and -obstetrical. Each of the patients acceding to study has been affiliated to comprehensive physiotherapy care. Distinguished two methods of operating a laparotomy and laparoscopy. Results. Based on the analysis results confirmed the beneficial effect of physical therapy to return to physical well-being after surgical treatment of female genital mutilation. Studies have shown that physically active patients before the operation in a shorter time return to physical ability after operation. Conclusions. After analysis of the results they are following conclusions: 1. Patients being physically active before surgery faster return to well-being after surgery. 2. Subjective evaluation of the patients proved that almost all of them after physiotherapy exercises carried out on the gynaecological department saw improvement in mood and increase self-reliance in terms of the physical. 3. Patients after laparoscopy had first verticalization few hours earlier than patients after laparotomy. 4. Most patients had anxiety and fear of physical activity after gynaecological surgery. 5. The majority of patients are planning to continue the exercise recommended by a physiotherapist at home.
