Fraza do cytowania: Matysek-Nawrocka M., Bernat M., Krasowska D., Chyl-Surdacka K., Sobczuk J. The contemporary cosmetic and medical treatments in the cellulite reduction. Polski Przegląd Nauk o Zdrowiu. 2017;2(51):213–219.

Cellulite (lipodystrophy) is a disorder with a complex and multifactorial etiology. It is revealed by an excessive accumulation of fat cells in the subcutaneous tissue and by an excess fibrotic tissue. This effect is described as the so-called “orange peel”. Other symptoms, such as swelling or tenderness on palpation, depend on the severity of cellulite. There are many factors that are important in the process of creating a change of a lipodystrophy type, but a genetic predisposition, microcirculation disorders and hormone disorders have the greatest impact. In addition, poor eating habits, lack of exercise and obesity contribute to deepening of pathological changes. The main aim of this work is to present methods, which contemporary cosmetology and medicine can offer patients suffering from cellulite. The work discusses the causes that predispose to the formation of cellulite and the methods to reduce it by cosmetic and medical treatments. It also points out the proper prevention and body care, with a view to primarily firming the skin.

Key words: cellulite, etiology, diagnostics, treatment, cosmetology.
