Fraza do cytowania: Przybylska K., Pytlik M. Strengths and weaknesses of the pharmaceutical and pharmacy market in the context of the Reimbursement Act. Polski Przegląd Nauk o Zdrowiu. 2014;2(39):153–157.

The pharmaceutical and pharmacy market in Poland is characterised by a slow growth dynamics. Most aspects of the market are state‑regulated. The basic marketing tools, such as the product, price, promotion and distribution, depend on the decisions made by the state bodies. The State, being the payer for healthcare services, tries to provide the best accessibility and quality of the services while incurring the lowest possible costs. The minimisation of costs concerns also the pharmaceutical sector. Expenses for medicines are constantly increasing and that trend is likely to continue.

Key words: pharmaceutical and pharmacy market, Reimbursement Act, reimbursed medicine, minimisation of costs.
