Introduction. 8–10% of transplant patients are pediatric patients. Despite of dynamic development of this field and development in the design of artificial organs, the number of surgeries performed, does not supply modern needs, although there is an upward trend in this area. Transplantology is still a controversial topic, and the main problem is the awareness of society. Material and methods. Paper survey was conducted in eleven educational institutions in the area of the Silesian Voivodeship in the period from May 2016 to January 2017. Treated group consisted of 178 people – parents of children less than eighteen years old. Results. The majority of the respondents speak positively about transplantation demonstrating their willingness to deepen their knowledge of this area and noting the need for social education. Most parents did not talk to their children about transplantation. Conclusions. The study points to the need to develop educational programs for transplantology. These programs will increase the level of public awareness in this area, which may help to increase the number of surgeries performed.
