This article proves the value of biological regeneration for enhancing the positive effects of physical exercise in amateur and recreational sport. An amateur athlete practices sports for his own satisfaction, for his own funds, and organizes his/her training himself/herself or with support of the more experienced colleague. Amateurs who treat sports as a recreational activity usually train irregularly, during holidays or weekends. Often this form of physical exercise is approached in a task-oriented manner. Proper planning of the right type and intensity of effort and biological regeneration plays a key role in amateur sports. It is a mistake to start an intensive training too early. This can result in painful muscle acidification, fatigue, joint pain and subsequently lead to discouragement from continuing the efforts. One should be aware that biological regeneration is a key element of the training process. Active biological regeneration can properly apply the possibilities that physiotherapy offers. These activities should help in preventing the effects of overloading the body, in quick restoration of the physiological abilities and preventing injury. The use of proper form of biological regeneration prevents the negative effects of physical exercise, such as injury, fatigue and mental discouragement.

Key words: biological regeneration, physiotherapy, recreation, amateur sport.
