The last flu pandemic took place in 1968-1969. Since then, inthere are many new subtypes of influenza A virus circulating in the world and two lines of influenza type B virus. The dynamic development of molecular biology has enabled the molecular analysis of the participation of other viruses in the construction of pandemic strains. For years, virologists have been asking themselves not where, but when will they explode? This is the question asked on March 11, 2019 by the new CEO of WHO Dr Tedros Alhanom Ghebreyesus. The spread of pandemic influenza in the 21st century is likely to progress very rapidly. In April 1999, WHO developed an Influenza Pandemic Preparedness Plan, together with a clear instruction to draw up national plans and set up multidisciplinary National Pandemic Committees. These plans are constantly updated. The operation of the Global Influenza Surveillance Response System has proven itself and checked many times. He actively participates in this supervision from the National Influenza Center located in NIZP-PZH. Irrespective of the GISRS, Poland is conducting virological and epidemiological supervision over SENTINEL influenza. Regardless of the updated pandemic plan in 2018, the National Influenza Center has developed Guidelines for the Preparation of Medical Facilities in the Event of an Influenza Pandemic, which will be helpful for implementation in its medical units. In Poland, the scandalous low percentage of the vaccinated population, because 4 percent, needs immediate improvement.

Key words: influenza, influenza supervision, influenza vaccination.
