Dyslexia is a developmental disorder whose symptoms appear in school-aged children which prevents the proper functioning in the educational system. The effects of the dysfunction radiate to all spheres of the patient’s life, not allowing for the optimal use of the individual’s potential. Early diagnosis is an important element of the fight against dyslexia, because it allows for the quick implementation of treatment. The basic problems are ambiguous etiology of the disorder and a multitude of symptoms. The problems are not limited to the inability to read. Both environmental and genetic factors cause the disorder. This article presents the initial research activities carried out within the framework of the program “Equal opportunities – raising the competence of children with disabilities”, which are aimed at eliminating the dyslexic problems by using one of adjuvant therapies – the Tomatis auditory stimulation. These activities, besides helping children, develop the social awareness of the problem, underlining its importance in the current world.
