Introduction. Pregnancy has a profound impact on a woman's body in numerous ways including: physiological, endocrine and psychological aspects. The perception of health by a pregnant woman depends on many factors. The way women are preparing for pregnancy, the fact if it is planned, the age of the 1st pregnancy, socio-economic conditions largely affect the pregnancy and mother and baby's health. Aim of the study. The aim of the study was to assess the value of health according to pregnant women considering social, medical and demographic factors. Material and methods. 200 pregnant women from Rzeszow and the surrounding area were enrolled in the study. The study was approved by the Bioethics committee (permission No. 06/04/2016). The standardized questionnaire Health Criteria List by Z. Juczyński were used to collect the data, SPSS software was used to process the data. The level of significance was adopted at p < 0.05. Validation of the differences between the variables was performed using Mann-Whitney test, Kruskal-Wallis test and Spearman's rho correlation coefficient was calculated. Results. The respondents attached the greatest importance to health understood as the result of "proper diet", "proper rest and sleep", and such properties as i.e., "to have fit all body parts", "do not experience any physical discomfort" and the states, i.e., "feel good", "feel happy most of the time". Women who had given more spontaneous births, to a lesser extent, perceived being healthy as taking care of rest or sleep, but to higher extent being healthy meant not getting ill. In turn, the subjects who had given more stillbirths often associated being healthy with not getting ill. Conclusions. The value of the health in the surveyed pregnant women was slightly dependent on the socio-demographic variables and the obstetric condition. The surveyed assigned the highest priority to health understood as result and property and the state.

Key words: health, valuing health, pregnant women.
