In 1969, thanks to the most ambitious representatives of the post war nursing motivated by the need to raise both the level of education and professional prestige, the 3-year College of Nursing was established at the Medical Academy in Lublin. In 1972 it was transformed into the 4-year Faculty of Nursing. Lublin was followed by other academic centers in the country.
