Introduction. In the XXI century medical database (MD) become the effective and rational way of searching for information on a specific medical problem, eg. treatment of diabetes. MD provides a faster access to the most recent, credible clinical trials (eg. Medline and Embase), as well as complete data on treated patients (base of patients in hospitals and clinics), eg. diabetic patients. In the last years the diabetes is a serious medical problem because it is not known of fully ethiology, as well as errors in the diagnosis and subsequent treatment. According to the Evidence‑Based Medicine (EBM) diabetes should be maximally optimized, given the current and reliable data from clinical and scientific research also in the field of pharmacovigilance. Aim. The aim of this study was to establish the level of knowledge and use of medical databases (MD) to optimize the treatment of diabetes in Poland. Material and methods. The study was conducted among doctors who deal with the treatment of diabetes (survey). The study was covered by 242 doctors from Poland in 2014–2015. Results. MD are used most frequently by young doctors working in clinics to identify and select the optimal treatment of diabetes, according to the requirements of EBM. Most often used by their database turned out to be the base MedLine using PubMed browser. MD although they are not commonly used, are becoming increasingly popular among doctors which deal of diabetes.
