Evolution of the Immunization Program and the level of its implantation in the years 1995–2011 using chosen obligatory vaccines in a non-public health care centre in the rural area of Malopolska region

Introduction. Due to effective vaccination population gains immunity that prevents transmission of infectious diseases. Aim. The aim of the study was to determine how the evolution of the vaccination schedule affected the level of inoculation of children and adolescents in the years 1995–2011 with the use of such vaccines as tuberculosis, hepatitis B, poliomelitis, measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis. Material and methods. The study included children and youth who live in a rural area of Malopolska region administrated by Non-public Heath Care Centre. The analysis used data from annual reports on immunization (MZ – 54 and the data from the bulletin of the National Institute of Hygiene). Results. All the newborns were vaccinated against tuberculosis. Around half of the children till the age of 2 were vaccinated against pertussis and poliomyelitis but in the in the second year of life the level of inoculation exceeded 95%. Inoculation against measles and rubella in the third year of life reached above 95% level. Very high level of inoculation against hepatitis B was achieved in the second year of life. The level of inoculation against rubella in the years 1995–2001 was low but since 2002 it has increased up to 100% level. Conclusions. The level of immunization in the years 1995–2011 in Non-public Health Care Centre in Raba Niżna was high and depended on the type of vaccination and the age of the vaccinated, which was the result of changes in the current vaccination schedule.
