Introduction. The mammary cancer is the most common neoplastic disease in the population of woman in Poland, and it's morbidity reaches 23% of all cancer diagnosis for that group of patients. In the Greatpoland region the incidence of mammary cancer in 2010 was 1586 and the year-over-year tendency is rising, especially among younger patients. The compliance with the screening invitations, sent by National Health Fund or regional centres dedicated to screening coordination to every woman of the age groups included in the screening program, is far above desired threshold of 70%. This results in increased number of cancer diagnosis in later stages of disease, which are connected poorer prognosis. Aim of the study. The aim of the study was the accessibility of the modern diagnostic tools for mammary pathologies to woman in the Greatpoland region. Material and methods. The questionnaire of 28 questions assessing accessibility of mammography, ultrasonography, MRI, CT, PET, FNAB or mammotome was prepared and distributed Participation in the study was voluntary and anonymous. Results. The research includes 340 women, most of them at age 40–50 years. City residents represent the biggest group of women. The main source of information about breast cancer prevention and breast self-examination is gynecologist. Conclusions. The respondents over 50 years old graded better the accessibility of mammography and ultrasonography. The higher educational level of the respondents was connected with lower grades of accessibility of MRI, CT, PET, FNAB. The higher economic status of the respondents was connected better accessibility of ultrasonography.
