The pain of cervical spine is one of the most popular reasons for reporting to the doctor. With the advance of civilization there have been many significant changes in lifestyle which limited people’s physical activity and made them spend most of the time in a sitting position. All these factors accelerate the development of degenerative and osteoarthritic changes. Cervical radiculopathy is a neurological condition caused by compression or damage of the nerve roots of the cervical spine. This leads to the occurrence of the neck pain as well as radiating shoulder pain and upper extremity which are associated with the sensory deficits and motor dysfunction. In diagnostic management apart from taking imaging and neurophisiological tests there should be also a thorough medical interview taken which aims at excluding serious pathology requiring immediate treatment. Prognosis for the majority of patients suffering from cervical radiculopathy is positive. Nonoperative treatment is the basis of therapeutic treatment. The use of anti-inflammatory drugs and analgesis drugs, short-term immobilization and physiotherapy can reduce pain and discomfort in the cervical spine and reduce neurological deficits. However, when conservative treatment fails and the patient continues to report pain, surgery may be considered in order to decompress constricted neurological structure and release the patient from chronic pain.

Key words: cervical radiculopathy, patophysiology, diagnostics, treatment.
