The issues of organ transplantation are in recent years given a lot of consideration, the objective of which is to bring closer to people the problem of organ transplantation as a contemporary therapy method. The progress in science, taking into account achievements in biomedical sciences, resulted in the need for people to extend the knowledge in this scope. Introduction of new scientific discoveries, development of modern methods, use of various modern technologies is to guarantee their application in connection with growing human needs, resulting from the diseases, injuries or disease‑related deformations or malformations. Medical sciences and religion have been closely connected for thousands of years. Many times in situations morally or ethically ambiguous, people referred to religious authorities and hierarchs’ opinions. Currently, in the times when travelling around the world got easy and there are migration waves, a lot of various cultural influences can be noticed within one country. Contemporary European societies are not homogenous and there are more and more dynamic changes and influences of people with different identity, religion or culture and tradition there. These dynamic changes taking place in recent years result in the necessity to educate professionals in the scope of cultural differences. The objective of the thesis is to discuss the problem of organ transplantation from the transcultural perspective, to reveal many aspects related to it and take into consideration the position of the nurse at each stage of organ transplantation.

Key words: transplantation, culture, transculturalism.
