Introduction. Quality management in health care is focused on meeting the needs of patients. Implementation of quality management systems requires a structured procedure in the field of standardization according to the normative requirements in health care. Aim. To learn the opinion of midwives working in the Podkarpackie province on the impact of quality management in health care on their work. Material and methods. 118 midwives working in three large hospitals in Podkarpackie were enrolled in the study. The survey was carried out in the period from January to February 2016. The method of diagnosis was based on a original questionnaire. Pearson's chi-square test was used for statistical analysis adopting the level significance at p < 0.05. Results. The subjects were middle aged women (45.66 yrs) with 10 years of professional experience as a midwife. According to the respondents, a significant factor influencing the level of satisfaction with the cooperation with supervisors is the flow of information (p = 0.0001). The better organization of work at the facility, the more frequently the subjects noted that documentation was adapted to the existing procedures (p = 0.0054). The subjects who raised their qualifications were more satisfied with the cooperation with other members of a therapeutic team (p = 0.0120). Almost a half of the respondents pointed to the lack of any incentive systems at their workplace. Conclusions. Making changes in the systems of quality management results in a number of practical implications. However, it requires constant vigilance on the part of management, which should gradually implement changes, foster the right attitude and motivate employees to assimilate these changes. Midwives using their professional experience, may be participants in designing and implementation of organizational changes.

Key words: quality management, job satisfaction, a midwife.
