Value Based Healthcare (VBHC) is a health care delivery model in which providers, including hospitals and doctors, receive a salary based on the health outcomes of patients. This model is based on four pillars: 1. data and health informatics, 2. benchmarking, research and tools, 3. delivery organizations and change management, and 4. incentives and payments. One of the main advantages of implementing value-based health care is simultaneous overall improvement in the health of population and a decrease in healthcare expenditure. VBHC is a new concept implemented by countries or whole regions which main element is integrated care. Some countries are well prepared for the introduction of the VBHC model, while many countries are still struggling with problems of infrastructure development and the degree of computerization of health care units. This problem also applies to Poland.
